Swimmers raise money for charity
MEMBERS of Ilkeston Swimming Club have taken to both land and water to raise money for two cancer charities.
Kyle Hudson, Rob Hudson and Ben Saunders took part in the Derby Gem 106 3k Fun Run in April, raising £228 for Cancer Research UK.The three senior elite club swimmers ran as a team posting a remarkable time of 15 minutes given the little running experience and training under their belts.
Rob said: “We would like to thank everyone for their tremendous support, encouragement and sponsorship money.“We are looking forward to taking part in the run next year and beating our previous time.”
Meanwhile, clubmate Gemma Gough braved the cold and murky waters of the River Thames in London to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support. The teenager, who also swims in the senior elite squad, overcame the currents, ripples and poor visibility to complete the Great London One Mile Swim in Docklands in 27mins 49secs and raised £133.
Great Work Everyone!! :D
