Ben at Midlands

On Sunday 3^rd June 2012, Ilkeston Swimming Club’s Ben Saunders went to race at the Age Group Midland Championships in Coventry Sports Centres 50m International Pool. Earlier this year at the County Championships in March, Ben qualified for the Midlands in his 100m Butterfly event posting a time of 1:06:10 where he won gold and was named the County Champion in his age group.

Ben was the first Ilkeston Swimmer to qualify for the Midlands this year and unfortunately would have qualified for two more events in the 200m Individual Medley and 100m Freestyle however; he just missed out gaining these times a few days later after the cut off date.

On the day of Age Group Midlands Ben posted a time of 1:07:00 just missing out on his personal best time, nevertheless still swimming fast, he gave a good solid performance for his first ever Midlands against some very tough competition from the Midland region! Fantastic effort – Well done Ben! Everyone at Ilkeston Swimming Club is very proud of your achievement! Congratulations!
