Masters @ The Rykneld Open - Take a bow...

Congratulations to the swimmers that took part in the Rykneld Open Meet last weekend!

Swimmers were out in force collecting a total of 19 medals overall including:

Gold - 13
Silver - 3
Bronze - 3
Fourth Place - 1
Fifth Place - 1

Coach and Team Manager for the day, Kyle Hudson said there was "Great swimming today from the team, there is definitely a bright future for the Ilkeston Masters Team after today, great swims and PB's :D Well Done Team ♥"

This was the first time that Ilkeston had sent a team to a masters competition and results speak for themselves with the amount of pbs and medals they have brought back!. The team effort and spirit was tremendous and everyone is looking forward to taking part next year!

County Championships at ARC Leisure Centre, Matlock 3^rd & 4^th March

 

This will be the first time the County has used this new facility for the Championships and there are some points which swimmers and spectators should be aware of.

• Car parking will be free
• Swimmers will not be allowed to take bags onto the poolside (Lockers require a £1.00 coin refundable)
• Outdoor shoes will not be allowed on the poolside
• Folding chairs will not be allowed on the poolside

A reminder to spectators wishing to take pictures at the Championships they must register their intention when paying for entry. Swimmers are reminded that the use of mobile phones or cameras for taking pictures in the changing rooms is prohibited.

DX Open Meet - February Festival

Well done to Ben Saunders. Ben was competiting in the Derventio eXcel Open Meet last weekend at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. Whilst there he swam 8 personal best times out of 9 swims that he entered and this was the first time he had swam 100m/200m events at a long course event. Great achievement, well done Ben!

Well that was an exciting weekend, snow, snow, snow and an exciting gala, with half a team and many swimming up in different age groups the team performed miricals, the team managers were stressed but got the swimmers to every event we could swim and the support from the parents was great, even though the weather report was not looking favourable, could we get home or were we to spend the night at the pool. All finished of well in the end.

We have a number of positions on the Club Committee vacant.

We are also looking for someone to help with the Club Website. If you are interested in volunteering to help in any of the above posts or would like further information, please email Lesley Gilbert, Club Secretary lesley.gilbert@hotmail.co.uk or speak to any of the Club Teachers/Coaches who are poolside as soon as possible.

The Special General Meeting is open to ALL to discuss any nominations/responses regarding the above positions.
